The Tasting Room Associate will be an integral part of the winery’s tasting room team, delivering an exceptional guest experience that highlights the winery's brand, wines, and values. This role requires a passion for wine, a commitment to providing outstanding customer service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality setting. We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual who can engage guests, share knowledge of wine, and ensure smooth tasting room operations.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and engage guests, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
- Lead guests through wine tastings, offering educational insights into the winery’s offerings, winemaking techniques, and the story behind the brand.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that every guest has a memorable experience.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall ambiance of the tasting room.
- Drive sales by upselling wine, wine club memberships, and merchandise during guest interactions.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring proper stock levels of wine, merchandise, and supplies, and notify management when restocks are needed.
- Process POS transactions, handle cash, and assist with daily sales reconciliation.
- Collaborate with tasting room team members to deliver seamless service during peak times and special events.
- Assist with special events, promotions, private tastings, and winery tours, working with marketing and event teams.
- Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date on winery offerings, new releases, and seasonal changes, and share relevant information with guests.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local alcohol service laws and regulations.
- Perform general operational tasks, including setting up and breaking down tasting room setups and assisting with general maintenance.
- Assist with training new staff on tasting room procedures and product knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth tasting room operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field is a plus).
- 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a hospitality, retail, or winery environment.
- Strong interest in wine, winemaking, and a desire to share knowledge with guests.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with guests and create a welcoming experience.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings for special events.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
